KICHIZO TOKAIDO

The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road
Tōkaidō gojūsan tsugi no uchi

Date: 1850-51
Publisher: Tsutaya Kichizō (Kōeidō)
Format: Chuban yokoye
Number of Prints: 54/54
References: Memorial Catalogue , Strange

Prints were two on a sheet so an even number was desired and the series consists of 54 sheets instead of usual 55 in the ordinary Tokaido series. Since the two stations of Shimada (24) and Kanaya (25) are combined on one sheet, all numbers from 25 are one less than the usual number for that station.
