The lantern is inscribed Iseri and the girth has the mark of Kinjudo.
Note:- Mr. Happer draws attention to the seal similar in sound to the name of the series which brought him fame. The Do means halt instead of road or highway, a punning adaptation.

28a Another state. The distant mountains are not seen to right of the central tree.
28b Another state. The mountain range does not appear.
Note:- This print, in Mr. Oscar C. Raphael's collection, is in such fine condition and so sharply printed as to go far to justify the assumption that it is the first state. It is unusual for a block to be added and difficult to see a reason for it in this instance. On the other hand, the wear of the block shown as between 28 and 28a might have given a reason for cutting the worn part away altogether. There are, however, no signs of wear in Mr. Raphael's print, and the order in which editions are here placed is given with all reserve.
